Experts say gaming will be the first real use case for blockchain, revamping the industry and making games more immersive than ever. How gaming navigates the remaining hurdles will become a case study for other industries considering mass blockchain adoption.Topic: Dallas Cowboys, despite injury news, aren’t in here-we-go-again mode yet – Dallas Cowboys BlogCategory: General

The Dallas Cowboys Blog is a blog that covers the Dallas Cowboys. It’s been covering the team for over 10 years. They have also covered other football teams such as the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

FRISCO, Texas (KTRK) — It’s hard to blame Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy for wondering what he’s done to enrage the football gods.

With tragedy (the loss of strength and conditioning coach Markus Paul), terrible injuries (Dak Prescott’s ankle), and a huge number of injured players, his first season was a 6-10 disaster.

Because it seemed that things couldn’t get much worse, this season promised to be better. Nothing has gone right for the Cowboys since they pushed the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the brink in Week 1 as they prepare for Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers (4:25 p.m. ET, CBS).

With a calf injury, wide receiver Michael Gallup was put on injured reserve. For breaching the NFL’s drug abuse policy, right tackle La’el Collins was banned for five games. Randy Gregory, a defensive end, has been put on the reserve/COVID-19 list. DeMarcus Lawrence, the Cowboys’ greatest defensive player, fractured his foot on Wednesday, putting him out for six to eight weeks, according to sources.

If there is a collective “here we go again” feeling among Cowboys supporters, it isn’t coming from the team.

McCarthy said, “I don’t feel that way.” “I don’t get that impression from our guys.”

The coach wasn’t going to publicly reveal his private views, but he’d been around long enough.

“The truth is that this is how things proceed year after year. It’s just a question of how many “McCarthy stated his opinion. “As I have said, the injuries are very personal. However, we’re focusing on who’s the next person up and the possibilities in the team idea and atmosphere. And, from a coaching standpoint, all we want to do is make sure we put these players in the best possible position to succeed.”

The Cowboys will replace Gallup with Cedrick Wilson, relegating CeeDee Lamb to a more outside receiving position. Last season, Wilson had a 100-yard receiving game. Collins will be replaced by Terence Steele or Ty Nsekhe. With Collins sidelined due to hip surgery, Steele played 14 games as an undrafted rookie in 2020. Nsekhe is in his seventh season, although he has only started three games (17) more than Steele.

Oh, and they’ll be primarily tasked with stopping Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa.

It’s a little more difficult to replace Gregory and Lawrence.

The 26 defensive players on the 53-man roster have a total of 46.5 sacks in their careers. Jaylon Smith, a linebacker, has the most, with nine. Tarell Basham and Dorance Armstrong, the probable starters, have 7.5 and 2.5 sacks in their careers, respectively.

Moving linebacker Micah Parsons to a more pass-rushing position is a possibility, although McCarthy cautioned.

McCarthy stated, “We’ve been extremely careful about how we play Micah, both in terms of off-the-line duties and on the line.”

Bradlee Anae, Azur Kamara, and rookie Chauncey Golston round out the pass-rushers, who put on pads for the first time Thursday after missing training camp due to a hamstring injury. For the time being, forget about bringing in a free agent pass rusher or making a trade to assist this week.

The Cowboys will have to evaluate what they have first, but Lawrence’s loss will be devastating.

Lawrence has the fourth-best pass rush win rate among edge rushers over the last five seasons, according to ESPN Stats & Information data. (By the way, Bosa is in second place with 28.1 percent of the vote.) Opposing quarterbacks have a 48 QBR against the Cowboys while Lawrence has been on the field in the last five years. Without him on the field, it rises to 70.

The Cowboys will use a committee pass rush.

“In a game, how many pass-rushers line up and play 70, 75 plays?” McCarthy stated his opinion. “As a result, you’ll need to rotate at some point. There’s a school of thinking that says no matter what the number is, a man can only have 23, 25 rushes. There are others who do not believe in it as well. However, there’s a reason we retained so many defensive players, especially on the defensive front. In any case, we want to be rotation-focused.”

In Week 1, the Cowboys were one of just two teams without a sack, but there may be some good news in Week 2. In each of his 16 NFL starts, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has been sacked at least once.

It’s the NFL’s third-longest streak.

The Cowboys are hoping it doesn’t come to an end on Sunday.
