Facebook’s exposé book is a novel about what happens when the company becomes too big and powerful. The book is an interesting take on how to keep society safe in a world where technology is constantly evolving.

The new book about facebook is a new book that was released recently. It has been written by someone who spent two years investigating the company’s history, culture, and business practices.

An online discussion with New York Times award-winning writers Sheera Frenkel and Cecilia Kang on their newly published book, An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook’s Battle for Dominance, was hosted by Brookline Booksmith on July 26, 2021. Callum Borchers, political reporter for WBUR, Boston’s NPR news station, moderated the discussion.

Despite its newness, this book has already piqued the interest of prominent media and information security specialists. The book has already been dubbed “the ultimate takedown” by the New York Times Book Review and has become an immediate New York Times bestseller.

It covers the most turbulent five years for Facebook since Zuckerberg started the business 17 years ago, starting with election preparations in 2016 and concluding in 2020.

Authors Sheera Frenkel and Cecilia Kang focused on the issues of Facebook in the Trump era, including the Cambridge Analytica controversy and the growth of disinformation on the site, according to the Washington Post’s assessment of the book. The book exposes the technical history of our time in a fascinating, behind-the-scenes exposé that provides the authoritative narrative of Facebook’s demise, as the writers themselves point out.

An Ugly Truth is fundamentally different, according to The Guardian, since its co-authors are a pair of seasoned New York Times journalists who were part of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize-nominated team.

But the fact that the writers interviewed over 400 individuals and recorded over 1,000 hours of discussion is much more important. It also features interviews with Facebook executives, past and present workers, as well as their families, friends, and classmates, as well as Facebook investors and advisers, attorneys, and activists who have long opposed the business.

As a result, the book is jam-packed with eyewitness accounts from a wide range of individuals who have just one thing in common: their job or any Facebook connection.

Authors of books

Sheera Frenkel is a cybersecurity reporter for the New York Times based in San Francisco. She spent more than a decade as a foreign correspondent in the Middle East, reporting for BuzzFeed, NPR, the Times of London, and McClatchy Newspapers.

Cecilia Kang is a reporter for the New York Times in Washington, DC, where she covers technology and regulatory issues. She spent 10 years with the Washington Post covering technology and business topics before joining the publication in 2015.

The book’s primary objectives

The authors discovered several very significant aspects that are understood in business activities and the technology that it actively utilizes for its incredibly successful operations as part of their research of Facebook’s operations. Those components, however, have to be brought together in a book. During yesterday’s online conference, the writers said, “We thought that ‘Facebook deserved a book.” “We concluded this was the ultimate book on Facebook,” says the author.

Large amounts of data, alleged breaches of confidentiality, the Cambridge Analytica Center controversy, and continuing issues with disinformation are all linked to the company’s business strategy and technology.

As a result, the writers have attempted to communicate the facts obtained via thorough study, not only to educate people about the company’s operations, but also to provide qualitative information about the hazards and risks associated with utilizing this social network.

One of the book’s goals is to raise awareness of and influence technological advancements in the area of safeguarding personal information and the potential of avoiding its leaking when people visit Facebook sites. Other Silicon Valley businesses have already read An Ugly Truth and view it as a guide on what not to behave as a Facebook user, according to the writers.
